Slattery

Mary Slattery / Slatery was born in Kilkenny, Ireland c1802/1803 the daughter of Patrick Slattery/Slatery and Margaret Ryan.

Mary Slattery married William Butler in 1822 in St John’s Parish Church, Kilkenny. In 1835 William Butler was transported to the Colony of NSW as a convict, leaving his wife and family behind in Kilkenny.

After William Butler served his time in NSW, Mary and some of her family emigrated to Australia, but for Mary Butler, the outcome of the journey was quite a tragedy!
